VA Funding Fee Calculator

Estimate the VA funding fee on a purchase loan and compare the monthly payment with a conventional loan.

MILITARY HOME TOOLS · OCTOBER 2026

See the VA funding fee on your loan, what it adds to the loan or to your closing cash, and how the monthly payment compares with a conventional loan.

Rates in this calculator are the VA's funding-fee rates for purchase loans, as listed on VA.gov in October 2026. They can change, so confirm with the VA and your lender.

VA loans can be used with no down payment for eligible borrowers. The fee drops at 5% and 10% down.
Some veterans, such as many with a service-connected disability, do not pay the fee. VA.gov explains who qualifies; your lender can confirm.
Starts at the Freddie Mac average for the week of Oct 1, 2026. Use your lender’s quote when you have one.
VA and conventional rates differ; use your lender’s quotes for both.
Charged until you reach 20% down or equity. The real figure depends on credit and down payment; ask a lender.

This is an estimate for planning. It is not a loan offer, a pre-approval or a rate quote, and it does not decide whether a lender will approve you. Rudy is a real estate agent, not a lender.
